Ratheesh, who works in Singapore, returns to his hometown on vacation to help his mother, Jayanti, settle permanently in a rural village in Kerala. They quickly embrace the beauty and tranquility of the village and their new home. They form a close bond with the family of Jumaila, a beedi worker who lives nearby. They celebrate festivals together, and Jumaila stands out as a person with her own unique perspective on everything. Despite Jumaila's mother being conservative, her father is protective of her. Ratheesh falls in love with Jumaila, but she does not reciprocate his feelings and keeps her distance. This leads Ratheesh to wonder if she might be a lesbian.
