Gilberto Merendez

Gilberto Meléndez was a Puerto Rican professional wrestler born in 1933. He began his career in 1951 and became known for his tough, physical style, making him one of the pioneers of hardcore wrestling. He had a long career on the independent circuit in the United States, especially in Tennessee, and gained significant recognition in Japan, where he took part in brutal matches and built a loyal fanbase. Although he never reached major promotions like WWE, he was respected for his toughness and longevity in the ring, wrestling until the age of 77. He passed away in 2016 after health complications, leaving behind a legacy as a hardcore wrestling icon.
