Beat Kammerlander

Beat Kammerlander

Beat Kammerlander is one of the world's best sports climbers of his generation and has contributed significantly to the development of climbing, especially in alpine terrain. His first ascent of Unendliche Geschichte in 1991 in the Rätikon was the first alpine sport route in the upper tenth UIAA grade. In addition, his route Silbergeier (difficulty X+ (UIAA), 1994) was for years one of the three most difficult alpine tours in the world, the trilogy, until Alexander Huber was able to climb an even more difficult route with Bellavista on the north face of the Cima Ovest di Lavaredo in 2001. In 1997 he set up the multi-pitch route WoGü in the Rätikon massif, which he named after Wolfgang Güllich †, and did the first ascent. Adam Ondra succeeded in the first red point ascent of this route in 2008. He was also very successful as a sports climber, and with Speed(XI-/XI) and "Missing Link" (XI) he achieved two extremely difficult routes at Voralpsee in Switzerland. In 2009 he succeeded in repeating his route Prinzip Hoffnung from 1997 without using bolts or normal hooks, i.e. greenpoint. Beat Kammerlander rated the route X/X+, E9-E10.
