Ku Ming-Shen, an active choreographer and dancer, has been based in Taiwan since 1987. Her work reflects a blend of Western and Eastern dance styles influenced by her diverse background. In 1991, Ku became deeply involved in Contact Improvisation, introducing it to Taiwan. She founded "Ku & Dancers" in 1993 to showcase new works and promote improvisation, with performances in New York, Australia, Paris, London, China, Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Ku has been a guest artist at various universities and dance companies globally. She received the Wu San Lien Award for lifetime achievement in 2009 and the 21st National Award for Arts in 2019. Currently, she is a Professor Emeritus at the Dance School of Taipei National University of the Arts.
